While researching different types of viruses, I came across Rice Dwarf Virus. This virus has a distinctly hexagonal shape with triangular interior markings. These interior markings appear most appreant near the center of the virus and fade near the edges.
The picture below is a photocgraph of the Rice Dwarf Virus.

I tried to capture this repeating structure of the fading interior triangles in my drawing. Using basic tesselation patterns for a hexagonal shapes (6), I drew the virus as I would imagine it self-replicating.

The next picture is a colored-in version of the original virus tesselation. This image gives a more visual sense of the virus.

It is interesting to note that in this arrangement, the smaller hexagonal viruses form a much larger hexagonal unit. Also of note are the interior triangular units. They, too, seem to form tesselations that form the interior of the virus.
