The initial phase of the project will involve further research into the feasibilty and constraints of orbital systems. This will also include the necessary characteristics of an orbital ring for human habitation, etc. Concurrently, we will look into platonic solids and how they could be used as building blocks for the orbital ring(s). As such, we will try to determine what aspects of sacred geometry lend themselves best to constructs and, most importantly, ring structures. These will be the building blocks of the orbital ring. Ideally, we are aiming to see how they can be modeled as self-replicating units that form the orbital ring. Likewise, we also want to determine if the orbital rings can themselves self-replicate to build other rings or super structures made of several rings.
The current plan for a deliverable is a film of some sort. In this film, we want to show the process of self-replication of the orbital ring from its fundamental units (platonic solids) to completion and then to the spawning of a superstructure. We are also discussing the best medium (programs, models, etc.) to use to show this process. Some other possible ideas include the creatiion of a backstory that makes the ring a necessity or desireable.
My primary area of research will be orbital habitats, orbital ring theories, and construction details. Petar will work mostly on the aspects sacred geometry that appeal to building of habitats and the integration of platonic solids.
