Project goal: The project will bring the methods of self-replicating robots and machine into life. It is achieved by providing suggestions to improve current methods of self-replication.
Project outcomes: The project is a suggestion of developing a world called I-World (Imagined World) at a location halfway between the Moon and the Earth and orbiting around the Earth. I-World is an industrial complex, which will gradually replace Earth in producing industrial products. Then Earth will become a green planet when people use lands for growing foods. As its name reveals, this is just an “imagined” world since its feasibility has not been approved by current technology. However, the workings of the I-World will not be a fairy tale. Throughout the project, every suggestion will be proved to be technologically possible in future with full research and investment.
Project components:
Self-replicating factory: A single central factory will produce necessary industrial materials with the original input from the Earth or nearby planet. This input is ONE TIME only. It means that, after being provided certain raw materials, the factory will produce more and more of those materials using self-replicating technique until need is fulfilled. Then the factory will be either shut down by human intervention or switched to other kinds of materials (a group of robots will be sent from Earth with commands). Humans are needed only for programming new commands and the factory is self-sustaining in power (solar energy) as well as production process.
Robots: Robots will be created by self-replicating the parent robot. With a certain “life span”, the number of replicated robots will be controlled. Robots are the workforces in the I-World. They construct as well as maintain all facilities and produce products after materials are provided by the central factory.
Both robots and the factory are capable of self-repairing. They also can provide mutation. New and special material and robot designs will be programmed and sent to the I-World via “messenger” robots.
Presentation: Media for presenting the project will come soon.
